Stress

In the course of everyone's life an event, or stressor, occurs which produces disturbing symptons.  Often, these upsetting reactions seem to resolve themselves through a natural healing process called "adaptive information processing".  In short, we just feel better over time without the need for outside assistance.  Sometimes, though, our mind/body cannot heal itself.  This may be because the event was too powerful or was experienced at a time when the person's normal healing resources were compromised.  At these times, one should consider consulting with a clinician regarding appropriate treatment.  Stress related problems are treatable.

Those who have been tested by adversity, pain or loss simultaneously face both risk and opportunity.  The risk is that they will learn to cope with a diminished quality of life.  The opportunity is for growth in spirit and wisdom.
